It is complete!

I finished my bios. Whew! I never thought I'd get through. I do not know where this week went to, really. I usually have at least a little more time to write (at least, I thought so... but it could be that's why the book grinds so excruciatingly slowly).

Anyway, the first of them are up here and here. Note in the second one I did not make any snide comments about Ms. Hill... :)

I want something. Something is not appearing. I finish something and feel Dissatisfied.

On the plus side, I have lost three pounds this week, so something's going right.

Must write book. Must edit. Must sleep. Zzzzzzz.

Why is it that sometimes my "userpic" choices go away when I'm working on my journal? I have to reload the "update" page to get them back...

Ooooh, good bios. Despite listening to Emmylou for years, I didn't know all that about her. And don't hate me, but I actually really like "Like We Never Loved at All." I can't help myself. And compared to Rascal Flatts, I've started thinking Tim and Faith are livable, which scares me. I guess it's all relative. (Though I've always liked a couple of her songs, especially the one with the video where the guy gave her a baby pig and they read a romance novel - one of ours! - together.)

Thanks! :) Emmylou's more expanded bio was fascinating. I knew quite a bit about her as one of the movers-and-shakers of the early 70's, and of course her voice is on SO MANY of my favorite records, but I learned a few things about her I didn't know, either.

Faith Hill started out country. She was pretty good, then. When she turned into the pop diva and kept marketing herself as country, though, I got sort of fed up -- and then I heard her sing once without the benefit of ProTools keeping her on key. Ouch. And oh, OUCH.

And I never thought Tim McGraw was much of a singer. He had a few cute songs once upon a time, and he does have a knack for choosing good songs to sing (he has an amazing marketing department), although most of them strain his very, very, VERY limited vocal skills to the absolute limit. He does all right with bouncy numbers like "Gettin' Down on the Farm" and the like, but when he warbles he way through Rodney Crowell's "Please Remember Me," well, please, don't. Rodney himself kicks ass on that number. About the only Tim McGraw songs I don't turn off immediately when they come on are some of those old kicker songs (I even liked "Indian Outlaw") and "Just To See You Smile," which one of my characters latched on to as his own personal anthem... (Yes, I do everything my characters tell me to, as long as it's legal and I can afford it... :D )

I think that's the main reason I still like Garth, no matter how far out there HE gets, because Garth can flat-out sing. He has an amazing voice (and since his soon-to-be-wife also has a Voice, their duets are a whole lot more listenable...).

And I about blew my stack on the whole Hill/McGraw thing (not the book publishers, ha ha) when a respectable, formerly-owned-by-Buck-Owens radio station called Faith the "Queen of Country Music." That left bile in my throat, believe me.
