Dang it, I KNEW it! The "Internet Special" prices have disappeared from the Southwest booking area, and now it's only a little cheaper than America West, and AW gives me the option of coming home an hour later (I have no idea how long the banquet will last), which gives me a little more time. Considering the "arrive two hours early" BS, even that may not be enough (the SW flight leaves Alb. at 5pm, while the AW flight leaves at 5:58pm; the banquet begins at 1:30pm). What to do, what to do...?

I hate flying anymore, and I haven't even flown since 9/11. It just seems desperately difficult, expensive, and fraught. Bleah.

Maybe we can stay an extra day, and come back Sunday morning...

Meh. I prefer America West to Southwest anyway. Better to stay an extra day. You'll be rested and in a better mood. It's money well spent if you can afford it. Have some great New Mexican food for me!

You'll probably have better luck than I do at the airport. For some reason, I attract security checks. Do I look like a terrorist? Do I have "Democrat, Hassle Her" stamped in large letters on my forehead? Sigh. I don't get it.

Just remember, no metal! That includes the belt and eyelets on the shoes. At least, I've been stopped for that.

I was seriously considering wearing just t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, and checking everything but a book, just to avoid as much of it all as possible. Although I was warned that you have to remove even flip-flops (!) so they can be x-rayed.

Sometimes the world is too ridiculous to even bother livin' in it...

I think my last flight was before the airport inspectors got into foot fetishes. My problem was metal eyelets in my tennies.

Mine was cowboy boots with chains, one time. Not to mention the hat, buckle, and rings.

I wonder if anyone would single me out if I wore a t-shirt that said, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin
