Rest in Peace, Johnny Cash

Country music, and the music world in general, is a little lessened today.

The Man in Black is gone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3103164.stm

I had to go home at lunch to get some Claritin. Damn allergies making me cry.

Picked up my Highwaymen cds because I wanted to Waylon sing about how he'll always be around (and around and around) and Johnny sing about how he'll be back again (and again and again and again).

Yep. I listened to my "Essential Johnny Cash" all day. Danged allergies. Been hitting me on and off all day, they have.

GAC has been running spot tributes between videos, and CMT actually shook his "Inside Fame" out and re-broadcast it. I have to find the Larry King Show he did a few months back; I never have watched it all the way through, and now I want to, badly.

Check out my new icon. I'm almost happy!

I went out tonight and played Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, Sr. on the jukebox all night long (to the dismay of the other patrons of the bar I was at, probably). It was lovely. Anytime anyone gave me shit, I just looked at them and reminded them of what day this was. In other words, if I can't celebrate the man and others like him today, when the hell can I?

Damn right! I love the icon! :) I was burning "favorites" CDs and found some great pictures of Waylon when I made the CD label art.

The country legends are slipping right through our fingers! :(

BTW, have you ever listened to Dale Watson? You ought to, he's absolutely GREAT. He's keeping real country music alive ( www.dalewatson.com ) I got to meet him last year when he came through Phoenix -- crappy town, hardly anyone came and he didn't seem real enthused about coming back. Anyway...
