Okay, I'm about four chapters in to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and it's already far better than OotP, and in fact she seems to be back-fixing some of the problems that arose for me in the previous, far-too-hastily finished (IMO) book.

Apparently, however, I haven't read my LJ Flist since, um, Wednesday, and everyone else has been writing like crazy, I'm about four pages behind. Yikes. But the appearance of book means I'll be even further behind, 'cause I can already see others are much further along on book than me, so I have to wait to read those cuts.

Back to FarScape. Oi. This show is frelling wonderful. BTW, I forgot to give a salute to the writers for the character Bialar Crais, who they somehow managed to take from two-dimensional cardboard "villain" and make him noble, heroic, and still so very true to himself that it was heart-wrenching. What an exit.

Okay, they bring on Jool and she's really annoying, and then just as I'm getting to like her, they get rid of her and replace her with someone EVEN MORE ANNOYING. And I really hate disliking characters with red hair.

For some reason.

I put my previous experience with reading fanfic aloud to good use this evening and started reading HBP on the way home from Canada... we just reached Chapter 4, ourselves. I have to say that the book was *incredibly* easy to read aloud, without some of the short, choppy sentences that sometimes pope up in books written for young adults... it all flowed quite nicely!

And it's been rather fun "reading" the book at the same time with rackham, because we've been pausing from time to time to talk about things we noticed. I'm almost disappointed that we'll be reading separately from this point.

I'm making good progress with it today. I'm enjoying it tremendously, much more than OotP.

Red Heads?
Now WHY would you HATE red heads? :)

*ahem*

And on other news...

Jool, eh, I think she is one of the WORSE characters Farscape brought in as well as the other dark haired female...which was SO memorable and hateable, I can't even remember her name. Ugh. The old grandmother, however, was somewaht annoying, but she's annoying on purpose. When characters are brought in for that reason, I don't mind them so much. But characters that are super genious level, almost Mary Sue...I just want to blow away with a laser cannon. I saw no need for that character. Of course, that's just me.

I said I hate BAD-GUY redheads. I like redheads to be portrayed as wonderful and marvelous, not loud and annoying (ahem). :)

I can't think of the one who replaced Jool's name, either. At least Jool had a few kick-ass scenes with Chiana. So far, "Sputnik" just annoys me in general, and she's not even hot with Chiana to get away with it, like Jool could be.

Re: Red Heads?
"Sputnik" has a complicated and unmemorable name. I long for her to be spaced. I suppose she's only there to sympathize with Scorpius and to provide technical assistance. How I miss Zaan...

Re: Red Heads?
I don't recall another dark-haired annoying female as part of the crew. Oh, no, they're going to unload another one on us, aren't they?! (wince)

Grandma annoys me with her habit of blowing hallucinogenic crap into people's faces. If she tried that with me, she wouldn't be able to get within ten feet of me without being coldcocked.
