Where does the weekend go?

It's a title I've used before, but it's a question that bears asking numerous times.

Today was a pretty good Sunday. We watched Dr Who (another staggeringly good episode), visited a little with the niece and nephew & long-suffering sister-in-law, who is preparing for cross-country move while her husband's company keeps changing time tables and their new house hasn't closed yet; then we took the mom-in-law to lunch and moved some stuff for her, then came home and gamed for a while as I was able to pry rahirah from "The Project" for a while, we finished the laundry, I baked cookies that did not fall flat, and now it's about time for bed.

Good day, all around.

It's getting hot already. I don't know how hot it was today; it was supposed to hit the first 100, but it may not have gotten there. It's supposed to be 96 tomorrow, and only 91 on Tuesday, with 101 predicted for Thursday. Well, it is halfway through May. We'll have to see how long it takes us to turn on the air conditioner.

The Knight
You scored 28% Cardinal, 43% Monk, 35% Lady, and 51% Knight!
You are the hero. Brave and bold. You are strong and utterly selfless. You are also a pawn to your superiors and will be lucky if you live very long. If you survive the Holy wars you are thrust into you will be praised for your valor and opportunities both romantic and financial will become available to you.

Twenty-five years ago today Mt. Saint Helens erupted. Good site with lots of interesting pictures on it.

I haven't written a word in over a week.

I'm so obsessed I watched the new Doctor episode yesterday and whined about Steve making me wait until 6pm to watch it together.

I even had to get the Dead Ringers episode that had a Chris/Doctor parody interview in it which is just hilarious! The real reason that he quit after one season. I was drinking soda and almost had a bad accident with breathing soda at one point. ;)

[chuckle] I know. I wish we had BBC3, 'cause I'd love to see some of the interviews and such they advertise over the closing credits.

I think they have a bunch available to listen to online over at the main BBC site, but I haven't checked it out.

Actually, it will be 25 years ago this Wednesday, May 18th. Though, of course, the actual eruption was on a Sunday.

Wow. Hard to believe it's been that long... it really doesn't seem like it. That was quite a day. Quite a week, really... no school for three days, lots of cleanup, and lots of worry for the adults (no one knew what the ash would do to our lungs or our cars/planes/whatever).

Ah, you beat me to it.

Yes. And then 25 years ago the following Wednesday is the anniversary of the big ash cloud that was blown our way (Longview). I think I still have a jar of ash here somewhere. I remember trying to gently wash the ash off Mom's car 'cause she was convinced it would grind the paint right off...

Ah, I missed the opening of the story on the channel I turned to that probably said "coming up" or something -- they were probably using Sunday to set up for the coming anniversary. But hey, that's only three days, and sometimes they retrospect for weeks.

I had some college friends from the Bellingham area back then. Nancy's car was all pitted and flaking and she drove it that way as a bit of a souveneer. I was always fascinated by such things, what ol' Ma Nature can do that we have no chance against.

I also got the Knight (at 51%), but I almost came in as the Lady (50%). Unfortunately, the quiz didn't have what I'd really have been in the 1400s: a dead peasant. ;-)

I woke up late today with my sinuses congested, a sore throat, and a sore ear. Stoopid allergies.

It's 10:30 p.m. and it is 93° in my apartment. I think I may try to stay up tonight and get the apartment tidy so I can get the maintenance guy over to fix the air conditioning.

visited a little with the niece and nephew & long-suffering sister-in-law?

Did you remember to take the book for Michael?

I didn't know they were over at Mom's house when we went, so I didn't bring it. We're hoping to get together next weekend sometime. He does apparently need one -- all his own books are packed, poor lil' fella. :)
