Went to see Age of Ultron last night. I enjoyed the hell out of it, although I'll say it wasn't nearly as good as the first movie - but there was some good snarky banter, lots of lovely Hawkeye (where IS the Hawkeye movie?!?), and Ultron makes a pretty lame villain but was saved through the brilliant casting of James Spader as his voice. That man can really deliver dialogue (especially when the dialogue is this good - really, Whedon can write dialogue like no one else).

As a consequence, though, I wandered through the day like a zombie on 4 hours' sleep. I can't do this kind of stuff like I could when I was younger...

It annoys me that I can't find proper embed codes for videos I see on Facebook. I still don't LIKE Facebook, mind you, but I find I spend a lot of time there. And while my Twitter feed posts across all the social media, Facebook is not so considerate. Anyway, I saw a great video there I was going to save/share here, but I can't get it to work. So it goes.

Regarding the Amtrak crash, I say again: Americans have to do an end-run around the Republican Congress and open a freaking Kickstarter to rebuild American infrastructure. That way we can pay all the taxes we WANT to pay and they will go where we want them to go and pay for what we want them to pay for. Get those Kickstarters going, for the Department(s) of Transportation and education and welfare programs!

I slept for three hours this afternoon when I got home from work. I hope I can thus sleep tonight. Tomorrow's Friday, whoo hoo.

I don't understand why we don't address the serious infrastructure issues -- not just with transportation but with the electricity grid as well. I just can't understand.

YES! The grid, another important thing!

Every time I hear "no taxes!" from these morons, I wonder if they think all this stuff maintains itself (and by the way, those are JOBS)...

I will never in a million years understand why the GOP thinks it's more important to control women's bodies and gay people's access to marriage than to educate children and keep the country from physically falling apart.

I had much the same reaction to the Avenger movie.

Not arguing one bit about the infrastructure though what I'm seeing with this crash seems a lot more than that (like the thing going more than twice the allowed speed in that area)

Yes, that's definitely true. Something was screwy with the driver, but unfortunately, with the concussion, he doesn't remember anything.

But still. If we had the proper safety upgrades in place, human error becomes less of a factor.

That is true. Pittsburgh is becoming terrifying. We have more bridges there than almost anywhere in the world....all of them in piss poor upkeep.

Kickstarter for bridges and roads!!! (I'm on the way to being serious about this. The problems with American infrastructure are becoming ridiculous.)

That isn't a bad idea.

I've serious thought about kickstarters for injured people and their student loans but I just don't know enough about the legalities of this sort of thing

Hell, a guy got up a kickstarter for a freaking bowl of macaroni salad. It can't be too hard.

that's also true
