Christmas, Christmas

Today: FINALLY decorated the tree. Looks lovely. Made more cookies (orange-spice with M&M baking bits). Made pot roast without carrots 'cause we had none, but turned out a lovely, delicious pot roast nonetheless. The entire day went by WAY too fast, leaving me wonder how exactly it happened that it's nearly midnight already.

It's only a week until Christmas itself, and then my winter vacation starts on the 28th (I don't know why I didn't just take the whole week off; I think there were already too many people out on Monday the 27th and I couldn't get the day or something... not that I mind a one-day work week, mind you). We have our new supervisor. He used to be my old supervisor's boss. According to the guys in maintenance, he's a much better line supervisor than he was an Assistant Manager. We shall see. He's one of those guys who is really fun and nice to be around, but I've had conflicting tales about how he is as a boss. One thing I'm sure of, though, he'll pretty much make sure all the shenanigans cease. Maybe we'll actually get a little work done for a change. I'm one of those people who like to get my work done, first, and then goof off; I work in a unit of people who come to work, goof off all day, and then suddenly about two hours before the end of the day, realize there's a shitload of work to get done. This leads to the folks who work the 7:45-4:00 shift ending up having to stay until 4:30 or 5:00 (giving no shot for overtime/flex time for the earlier shift folks). It drives me nuts.

But I'm pseudo-lead worker this coming week, since both Maria and Judy are out, and I get in earlier than Erma, who will take over when she gets in later. Should be an interesting week. We have more than half the unit off next Thursday. Yippee! So I should make the most of tomorrow (which undoubtedly means I'll sleep).
