I just woke up, which really surprises me. I haven't slept this late since I was sick, and speaking of which, I'm either in the throes of a bad allergy attack or relapsing. I feel like crap. Not sure if it's just the traveling, the crowds, the too-much-food (but oh, so good), the walking, or what, but the headache and vague soreness is back. I just have to get through today, and I would like to enjoy it.
I did enjoy yesterday and Friday. Yesterday we went to see the new Circe show at the Aria Resort, Zarkana. I didn't know it was a Steampunk-themed show!!! I was squeeing all over the little giftshop, with the cunning little top hats and roses-and-gears covered things. I got a couple of really nifty tee-shirts. I would have LOVED to have gotten a wonderful blouse for Barb I thought she'd like, very "Fallen London," but it was nearly $100... maybe next time. :)
Happy New Year, of course -- 恭 禧 發 財 !!! I always like coming to Vegas around this time. Always lovely in the Bellagio Conservatory. Haven't uploaded any pictures, but I tweeted a few from my phone (I knew a smart phone would increase my tweeting... I hope the "my tweets" posts aren't too annoying on your f-lists).
I'm glad the Phoenix Chinese community decided to do their New Year week celebrations NEXT weekend instead of this, so I can go. (Possibly because of the Superb Owl... er, Super Bowl /WilWheaton )
The high today in Vegas is supposed to be 54. The jet stream has finally dipped down into the southwest. Thank goodness there's rain in California -- I hope it crosses the mountains into Arizona. It doesn't look like they think it will, though. I know California gets all the press about the drought, but really, Arizona is suffering, too. And we STILL haven't instituted any water restrictions. God, I love my narrow-minded, conservative, headstrong state...
Headache seems to be easing. Hopefully it's just sinuses and sitting up is helping. (Dry cough never has gone away, that's no different.)
I'm surprised Mom hasn't come back upstairs. She has always gotten up before me and gone down for her coffee, which, since I don't drink it, has never been a problem. In the last several years, as I've gotten older and more used to waking up early, I usually get up about the same time and take these early morning hours for "me" time to, say, update my journal and such. That's why I was so surprised I slept until nearly 8. I just don't do that at home anymore. But Mom still labors under the impression that I'm still a teenager who sleeps until noon -- she was saying, "Do you realize I'll be 79 next month?" and I didn't point out to her that, come August, I'll be 50. I don't think any mother wants to hear that sentence...
Oh, there she is. Guess I'll sign off.
