Oven Cleaning

I decided to clean the oven this afternoon, and because I had read it was a good way to clean the grill, as well, I brought that in and stuffed it in the oven before starting the self-cleaning cycle.

After all the smoke alarms went off and I was choking, I moved to the porch to watch smoke flow out of the house while the cycle burned all the gunk off my grill. *cough*

But now it's clean.

And I finished reading Stephen King's new novel, Doctor Sleep. OMG, I loved this book. I haven't liked a King novel this much in AGES (I was pretty much put off King after the disappointments that were Pet Semetery and </i>Christine</i>, although I did like The Green Mile) -- thrilling, intriguing, full of GREAT characters I cared about AND a terrific conclusion and wrap-up. I love an author who's not afraid to CONCLUDE a book. I'm very happy.

I can even live with this result:

I suppose I must go looking for the nuclear wessals now.

I was off a week and wore purple LAST Thursday, but tomorrow is GLAAD's "Spirit Day." I'll have to see if I have anything else purple in my wardrobe (I don't have much).

Today I was told I do too much production and need to focus more on supervising the floor. Wow, actual permission to stand around doing nothing! :)

But because I was captured by a book I didn't finish my writing critiques, so I'll have to work on those tomorrow...

If the oven (or grill top) is filthy, it can be really nasty. Unfortunately, our oven is the sort that does not like being cleaned any other way... (as in the manual practically screamed, "DO NOT USE OVEN CLEANING PRODUCTS ON THIS!!!!!")

I was very happy with it.

oh geez that sucks. Mine wasn't dirty but it was burning away whatever leaked when the other heating element caught fire and broke...

That's the only way our oven CAN be cleaned -- the instructions indicated to never, ever use things like "Easy-Off" on it.

The grill was just something I'd read, as a "good way to clean one's grill." It is super-effective, that much I'll say.

It is VERY good. I don't usually follow him, either (as I said, he's disappointed me before), but I saw this one at CostCo and it intrigued me, so I got the Kindle edition. By the time I was at 48%, I couldn't stop reading it!
