Last night I looked at a Europe map to find some parts of France where d'Artagnan has been tromping around in the Dumas I'm reading, and I ended up, as I often do, taking a tour of the world via Google Maps. With a little cross-referencing, I managed to find Neuschwanstein Castle nestled in the Bavarian hills (I've always been more than a little fascinated by this castle -- when I was a little girl, there was a framed picture of it on my wall, and it was there until at least high school... I don't know where that picture went to, over the years). I love Google maps. I have toured the world from my armchair.
Of course, looking at images of one castle leads to other castles and then buildings and then...
So are the evenings wasted. The Twitter feed @abandonedpics is full of amazing pictures of buildings from all over the world (although it's shy on explanations of them, but they have caused me to wander off on research jaunts).
I've decided to step up trying to work on my writing blog, nightmaresaloon, by just posting excerpts until I reach that "100 blog posts" thing. I'm a super, super slacker when it comes to that. I'll be everyone else is already past 100 posts.
