Well, Damn It

I knew he wouldn't be there forever, but both him and the BBC had CONFIRMED he would stay through Series 8.

Now I'm cranky, depressed, and kinda mad.

Everything sucks, and this made suckiness today even suckier. Even the good honey guy wasn't at the farmer's market today.

Sorry today sucked. ::hugs::

This was what he said:

Matt Smith's statement in full

"Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans of the show.

"I'm incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day to realise all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience. Many of them have become good friends and I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.

"Having Steven Moffat as show runner write such varied, funny, mind bending and brilliant scripts has been one of the greatest and most rewarding challenges of my career. It's been a privilege and a treat to work with Steven - he's a good friend and will continue to shape a brilliant world for the Doctor.

The fans of Doctor Who around the world are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show (and speculate more about the future of the show) in a way that I've never seen before.

"Your dedication is truly remarkable. Thank you so very much for supporting my incarnation of the Time Lord, number 11, who I might add is not done yet - I'm back for the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special.

"It's been an honour to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the Tardis for a spell with 'the ginger, the nose and the impossible one'. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go and Trenzalore calls. Thank you guys. Matt."

So it's just an actor making a decision to move on, and I shouldn't take these things so seriously. I think it's because it was just a week or two ago the confirmation he was signed for S8 came out, and I was pleased that he was staying on -- and then this. Phoo.

I take television WAY too seriously. Watched the last episode of Merlin today (laughed and cried), and am watching what I already KNOW is the final season of Eureka and it's making me sad, too...

Hey, I'm in mourning for the final season of Burn Notice and it hasn't even started airing yet.

Also, it does seem strange that they announced he was signed and now he's leaving, which is why I wondered if there was A Reason. I also wonder if he'll at least show up for an episode so he can morph into #12.

Well, he's already filming the 50th Anniversary special (November 23), and he's on for the Christmas special, so that's probably when we'll see the Regeneration.

I suppose we may never know for sure why he decided now; there could be many reasons or maybe there was just one that made him choose to leave.

Considering Hashtag ThankYouMatt going on Twitter, I'm not the only one.

There's a rumor that he had a falling-out with Moffat, but I don't know any details, or how credible that is. Who fandom is a wretched hive of wank and villainy, so it could be completely false.

I'm VERY unhappy, especially after the confirmation he'd been signed for S8.

Bait-and-switch. Phoo.

Well they all leave after a while. I just excited on seeing my companion Rose and my Doctor Ten again. I have feeling Matt will come back later on in the Doctor Specials, and that 10 and 11 will have a buddy relationship and be seen together again in future multi doctor stories.
Moffat did want an older Doctor, though I doubt it will be that easy in it being John Hurt as number 12. So maybe it will be different and will finally get a black or woman Doctor. Robert Carlyle is also out of the running because he is doing OUAT. I would love to see James Nesbitt as the Doctor. But I doubt that will be happening any time soon.
Trust Moffat, change sucks, but I like to see who he has in store for the 12th doctor under his writting team. Hopefully we will at least get the Doctor to say" Finally I am a ginger !!!!"

I really don't care who they cast -- I'll think about what that performance is like once it happens. I never know anything about the new person cast, and I can't say anything about them until I actually see them in the part and what they bring to the Doctor.

I tweeted that I'm sure I'll like the new Doctor -- I always like the Doctor. But that isn't going to make me any happier about losing Eleven, especially when they had already announced he was CONFIRMED for S8.

I just hope he goes out well. "Geronimo!"
