Musings My Brain Comes Up With

I've posted some snippets from my Nano at my other journal, nightmaresaloon.

I'm wondering if I should cough up a little to make it a paid account, to get rid of the annoying ads and highlighted text for more ads in my fiction. I don't think I have a lot of readers.

In my re-read of The Lord of the Rings it occurs to me that were this book written today, as mainstream fiction, it would have ended when the ring went into the fire. Quest over, The End. Tolkien was a man who knew how to write a CONCLUSION. Since so much of my formative years were spent reading Tolkien, it's no wonder I feel dissatisfied unless I know EVERYTHING that happens after the story's over.

I have no new words for the current tragedy; nothing that I haven't said already or others haven't said better. I have been a gun owner. I was raised by a man who taught pistol in the Army, he taught me how to handle a gun properly. But I have never seen any reason to own automatic weapons which have one and only purpose: to kill human beings. They were designed for soldiers and made to kill. Period. There is no reason a civilian, either to defend oneself or to hunt, has to own a high-powered automatic weapon or a cartridge which can fire multiple rounds. Period.

I had some frivolity in mind to post on Friday, but I felt bad posting it then, and now I've really forgotten. But while I have no money, we DO have a tree, all presents bought and mostly wrapped and mailed, most bills paid, and on the whole, we have blessings to count.

I think we have more than our share, and I have everything to be thankful for.

And yet, I still want this.

I need to make fudge and I have no marshmallow fluff.
