I have had SOMETHING for the last two weeks involving a sore throat and extreme fatigue, which curtailed my plan to get back to the gym starting Wednesday. I've barely been able to get my butt out of bed to go to work. It started last week, but faded away over the weekend; I was full of energy on Tuesday, and then Wednesday, WHAM. Thursday and Friday I really didn't feel all that well, but getting up and moving around actually felt good, so I did. Besides, I haven't called in sick in over a year, so it's becoming a point of pride (not to mention I'd have lost the overtime I worked Monday and Tuesday -- paid sick leave turns overtime hours into regular hours).
Last week my buddy Dave Insley came back to town for a show, on a Sunday night -- I made myself go, because I haven't seen him since he moved to Austin some years back, and enjoyed myself tremendously. The boys who opened for him appeared to be a local gay-friendly (very gay) Americana thrash band, who had scores of loyal fans (it looked like Pride in there) who mostly cleared out when they finished and left Dave's pals and us old-timers who'd been following him for years. I managed to hang until just past midnight and had to give up. Gone are my days of staying at the honky-tonks until 3am (at least, on a Sunday night). I couldn't help but wonder if I picked up something then.
Next Sunday (the 7th), I am flying to Dallas to observe the rollout of our Quality Assurance program in our Central office, in order to bring back insights for when we roll it out here in West. I wish Austin was closer to Dallas.
