While the characters who live in my head with Boston ties celebrate the Red Sox victory over the Yankees... (and the Arizona part of me griping because Curt Schilling was OURS, dang it.)

I actually had some things to say today, but I thought of them early this morning, and LiveJournal is naturally someplace beyond the Firewall when I'm at work.

Likely, what I was thinking about was the political kerfuffle, as this morning's first hour of the Diane Rehm show had my hair standing on end. One of the guests was Ron Suskind. Excellent speaker, good researcher, scary subject.

More humorously, I discovered I wasn't the only one who thought John McCain looked like he was walking through a slaughterhouse after the last debate, as one of the local columnists points out here.

I saw the picture and McCain really did look grim. Does anyone else think that Bush smiles like the Grinch?

I actually was watching the news when they played the interview, and while Bush looked chipper and all excited and Bush-happy, McCain looked like he would really rather be anywhere else -- far, far, FAR away. It was hilarious. Ah, Bush... using the awesome power of words against insurmountable facts. The only thing that worried me about that article is Montini doesn't think McCain really does want to run for president in 2008. Mark my words, repealment of the 22nd Amendment! {shiver}

I have been hoping and praying the Sen. McCain's sudden bout of party loyalty was a signal he intends to try again in 2008. I mean, we've got to get he nutcases from the Cheney branch of the party out of the driver's seat over there!

I think poor McCain is walking one heck of a tightrope. If he came out against Bush when he had specifically been asked to run the Bush campaign, he might have lost a lot of Republican backing. I think he's doing his best to stay politically viable right now. I really hope he does decide to run in 2008; he's the one Republican I can respect.
