OMG SQUEEE

So, I neglected to mention that when I got home this afternoon there was a box on the porch from nutmeg3. I set it aside because it's addressed to both Barb and I, but I figured I could open the box and see my OWN present, so I did, and...

YOU SO TOTALLY ROCK!!!! I was not expecting that at ALL. She gave me her old Kindle! *happy dance*

I had to put Barb's prezzie bag back in the box and hide it, though, because Churro REALLY wanted to get inside it, but other than pulling him out I didn't peek.

I give you massive HUGS!!!

Yay! It got there! And you just seemed like the perfect person to inherit it, so why not? Did you open your other (original) present, too? It's the wrapped one, and let's just say it had your name written all over it when I saw it. *g*

ENJOY!!!!

No, I wasn't sure who that one was for. I was sitting here trying to figure out the controls and started playing the word game...

Let me open it now...

Nifty! :D It has Dean Miller's version of his daddy's "Old Toy Trains," awesome. I look forward to hearing it! :)

Hugs again!!!

How funny! All the years I had it, I never played the word game. I'm not even entirely sure I knew it existed!

The Home button takes you to your book list, and I left the Kindle Hints volumes. The little square button is like a tiny joystick. You push it in any of the four directions to move the highlight, then push it to select. If you open one of the hint books, it should explain the rest. Menu lets you turn on the wifi, which I think you need to do to register it so you can buy books. When in doubt, go to the Kindle store on Amazon and check out the help section, or just have them call you and talk you through it. It's a Kindle2, in case they ask you what model it is.

It's the first thing on the menu if you don't know how to shift up and down -- now knowing how to use the "joystick" it unlocks everything!

I'll have to sign in and register and all, but there's so many books on here you've loaded that I haven't read I'll be busy for a while! (And there's several I either just bought or just finished reading, like most of the Neil Gaiman... :D )

Uh-oh! There's a problem somewhere. I took everything off - I have to take iot off or I'll lose it - and deregistered it. I have no idea how it got back on. Please don't read anything 'til I figure out what's going on.

Goodness, of course! It does make sense you'd have to wipe it. Have not started reading anything, promise!

Let me know if I have to do anything. (I suppose it's possible it's just the MENU that's still there, not the actual content...)

Even that was gone when I finished. I think Amazon's cloud is having issues. I'd been reading World War Z on my Fire, with the wireless off, and then Monday I went to read it and it was only in the cloud, so I had to download it again.

Plus the person I chatted with last night said just deregistering it should have deleted everything, although the person I talked to before I sent it said I had to remove every book individually. (Made me really glad I didn't have the 1500 books it can hold on it. *g*)

And thanks for understanding.

Well, Amazon has no idea what screwed up, either. They said you need to reset it, so I just forwarded you the instructions. Sorry things got messed up.

I will follow them and get it all set up. :) Don't worry, it's still an awesome gift! *heart* you!

Fair warning... they do have quite a few self-published books there, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but means there can be a lot of dreck to wade through (thankfully, most of the really bad ones have the decency to make their summaries almost unreadable).

LOL! And good. I'm not averse to having a good laugh while I search for the gems.
