Met Mom around 11:30 and we got checked into the room. I managed to hang on for the rest of the day, we walked up the Strip and took some pictures, and I collapsed far too early but with hopes of being less sick on Saturday.
It worked; we had a great Saturday, starting with a light breakfast at the Studio Cafe at MGM and then gambling to build up Mom's comp points, then went to see:
We saw it the first year it opened, but had bad seats; this time AWESOME. It's an amazing show, really, and so intense I think you could watch it twenty times and see something new every time.
We did okay at the slots with Mom's surefire system, making a couple of decent hits:
That was $400 --
This one was $150.
We had some fun. I was pleased at the Bellagio was still done up for the Year of the Dragon (last year we missed the Year of the Rabbit by like one day):
I was deeply amused by this game:
It was actually fun to play, too. Lots of great stuff for "them of a certain age" -- although I did note that it was fairly obvious Signourney Weaver did not sign anything to allow her voice and likeness be used....
Same view from our room as last time, just from a higher floor:
They're redecorating the MGM Grand, apparently floor-by-floor; we stopped on Floor Four and saw some of it; looks to me like they're moving from the Classic Art-Deco of the 30's to Modern Hotel Bland. Oh, well, everything must be new. The Lion Habitat has been closed, too (sob, sob), they'll be taking it out and putting something else in. The one sure thing in Vegas is that nothing is permanent.
At the M&M's World store I saw they're making the brown candy into a character now, too -- the glasses-wearing sexy-smart gal, Ms. Brown. Hee.
I took some good shots from the airplane, too. Hoover Dam, coming in:
And the Strip, on the way out:
Now I'm thinking there are things I want to do as I watch some stuff on Tivo and catch up on ElJay. Still have the remnants of the cold, so I don't exactly feel like getting up and go-go-going, and of course I have to go to work tomorrow, but hey, there's still some of today.
Maybe now I can actually get focused on something... anything... losing weight or writing or something...
