I'm currently surrounded by sleeping cats.
New furniture is in, new Tivo hooked up. It was a surprise to find out that the newer Tivos need an "M-card" rather than the old cable box for the digital channels; I have to remember to call Cox tomorrow to get that set up so I can get my digital channels (read: BBCA, ID, TCM, and the Hub--I wish I could get a deal for four freakin' channels). I'm hoping that the new card will end the problems I was having with the digital channels freezing if I had the channel on too long (a phenomena which resulted in, when I recorded the Tudors marathon, ten full hours of a freeze frame of Sir Thomas Moore reaching for something). I started deliberately programming it so it would change the channel between every recording to keep that from happening, or changing it manually before it started.
That said, I do like the new Tivo, although I have to learn all its quirks. Some of it is a little annoying (and will probably get better as I get to know it), but I do very much like the fact it keeps the current screen up while you're programming; I have to reserve some judgement because the guide wasn't fully loaded when I was making my schedule and I couldn't schedule "Chuck."
It's currently recording two channels; I need to see what they both are, since I'm not sure what... oh, wait; it's probably Hawaii Five-0 and Castle.
I still have six episodes of left Craig Ferguson on the old one I need to clear out. Then I can hook up the (wait for it) VHS. I cannot believe how much space is in this entertainment center -- I swear it was smaller in the store, but here at home it looks GINORMOUS, and it has an amazing amount of storage inside -- I have all my DVDs, most of the VHS, and many of my CDs in it, and there's still space for other stuff. (CDs which have been ripped are in storage cases in the closet, and there are VHS tapes stuck in odd spots everywhere...). I also cleared out a number of VHS tapes which I have since replaced with DVD.
The new Tivo also streams from Netflix. So I changed my account back to unlimited streaming and 2 DVDs, and I left the DVDs because of the nearly 200 titles in my queue, only FOURTEEN titles are available for streaming. I'm glad they decided the Qwikster thing was STOOPID. But I watched a couple of streaming videos last night to test it, and it works dandy. I haven't tried the Hulu and YouTube that also can be streamed to the new Tivo. (I don't really want to pay extra for Hulu.)
Three years ago today we were in Orange County getting married. Only three years? I need to get back to wedding weight. (And while I'm thinking about it, REPEAL PROP 8. /politics)
I managed to get to the gym this morning, but there will be overtime tomorrow, so I have to get in early. And my truck overheated on the way home today (go figure, at least she waited until the temperature dropped below 100), and I checked my coolant only to find there's a neat hole in the bottom of the reservoir. WTF? So Barb will have to take me to work tomorrow -- by some trick of fate, she took tomorrow off. So getting the truck checked (oil change, etc.) becomes a necessity.
I think a haircut is also a necessity. I look like Roseanne Rosannadanna because I didn't wash my hair this weekend (sue me, I only HAVE to wash it once a week) and it's all fuzzy and in my eyes. I am praying for good things from last pay period's overtime. I also need to call the hospital and see where I am on that bill.
I wonder if, while I have Cox on the phone, I can wrangle my bill down -- I couldn't help but notice that, for new customers, their bundled bill is like $50 less than what I'm paying now. (Seriously, I've looked over our bill extensively; the bulk of what we pay for is Internet, and my extra channels amount to about $10 a month -- and we aren't going to be cutting back on the Internet any.)
Massage Envy started taking money from me again (I had suspended my account for six months to save a few bucks); maybe I could get a massage. I think I need one, I'm tight as hell and my arm is hurting again.
I will post some pictures of the new furniture when I get the camera hooked up and upload 'em.
I still need to get glasses. Some of the folks at work told me I should submit my glasses receipt to VSP even if I do buy them at Costco, because there could be a reimbursal even though Costco isn't on the list. Hmmm. Couldn't hurt. I just need the money up front.
Another episode of Ren 3 will be coming on Wednesday. I'm liking what I'm doing. :)
