Hooray for Friday!

I have been in a really good mood all day. I can't figure it, but I'm enjoying it, by golly. Did a lot of solid work today, brain working ceaselessly while I labeled mail (which did lead to at least one perplexing mistake, which fortunately was fixed quickly enough).

My super-cool supervisor has gotten a promotion and will be leaving us. This leaves me feeling odd, but I'm not at all unhappy, although I hate to lose him; he's a great guy, so I'm quite happy for him. I instead have the thought that maybe this is a good thing for our unit, because some of the folks I've previously mentioned wouldn't last a second under a supervisor who pays more attention to the unit. Mark was no babysitter, which I liked because I'm disciplined enough to not need a supervisor watching me all the time. I tend to only slack on the job when there's actually not any work to do. However, a gigantic slice of the rest of the unit spends a LOT of the day talking, socializing, going out to eat, talking on the phone, surfing the internet, etc., etc. (Which might be partially WHY I'm such a high producer.) So I will look forward with interest to see who gets Mark's position. I should be okay provided it's NOT my old supervisor from WP (who was the reason I transferred in the first place). Her I can get along with personally, but I don't like working under her!

My characters are moving forward, but not helpfully giving me a solid ending for the previous tale. Hopefully I can figure something out this weekend, perhaps. Then I will inflict it on those who have volunteered to read it for me and (whimper) be totally ruthless. I have to go to the library tomorrow and return the books I haven't read yet (sigh) and the CDs I enjoyed just listening to without having to review for a change.

Or the Head Bitch--she was being promoted outside your unit, I hope?!

We're LJ twins? I guess that makes you the good twin who does all the posting. :-)

Okay, I'll name names, since otherwise it's too confusing. Peggy was my old boss, and like I said, I like her personally, but didn't care for her as a boss. She was the one who told me I couldn't listen to music while proofreading. :P

Jennifer is the bitch-from-hell in my current unit, and she did interview for another position, which I heartily hope she gets. However, if she DOESN'T, maybe a new supervisor would fire her because as far as I can tell, she's not that good a worker. I think she's gotten into a position of minor authority for the sole reason that her computer has a strange glitch that allows her alone (other than Maria, our head worker) access to the interior database which allows her to look up claim information (normally, this program is not accessible to anyone who has the necessary Single Capture program on their computer, which is all of the rest of us). I used to have access to that database because it was needed in Word Processing, and I know how to use it as well as she does, I just can't get there on my computer. She is also buddy-buddy with Maria's second-in-command, Frances, who I think will lose her comfy position under a new supervisor, because Frances doesn't do diddly squat. I really wonder how she's managed to get where she is at all.

But we shall see when Mark moves to his new digs and someone new comes along. If we ARE put temporarily under the Greeley supervisor, nothing will change, because, well, he's in Greeley and not here.

Confused? You won't be after next week's episode of Soap. :)
