I don't know why anyone who watches television with as much fervor as I do thinks that The Event is in any way a worthy replacement for FlashForward. The last few episodes have been actually yawn-worthy, they're making their hero (Jason Ritter) into a MAJOR jerk wad, and I've found that I can miss scenes or even entire episodes and still pretty much keep track of the story (such as it is) -- unlike too-soon-canceled gems like FlashForward and Jericho, which kept me riveted to the screen. *sigh*
We had Barb's mom over for dinner, so I didn't get as much done this afternoon as I'd hoped -- I made a rather lovely chicken soup, though, full of big chunks of chicken, carrots, onions, and with barley, peas & corn. Quite nice.
And last night I made a stir-fry which came out rather like an Asian goulashe -- ground turkey, diced onion, diced carrots, peas, Chinese five-spice, ginger, Sake and Hoisin sauce, stir-fried and then simmered until done, served over noodles. THAT rocked. Have to try it again with fresh ginger instead of powdered.
Churro is a brat and got his nose swatted this morning when he was hastling Cairo. Probably deserved it, the little brat. I didn't see what happened, but heard horrible caterwauling. A while later there was this horrible crash and somehow Churro had managed to knock EVERYTHING off the lazy Susan on the table (fortunately, nothing broken, but spilled olive oil on the tablecloth). Ah, yes... a kitten.
My mom is booking us on the Oasis of the Seass for our Cruise this year. WHOA.
Now I only have to see what happens with work -- they still haven't finalized the new division, although it's a fair bet all of us who have stayed in imaging will REMAIN in imaging, but we don't know who our supervisor is (we know they have selected three for our area, but we don't know who will be over US, or if we'll remain a single team or get split up between the three), and I won't be able to schedule anything until June. I told Mom we'll know for sure sometime between May 12 and June 1, and that's all we know.
ARGH. Knocked over my wine glass all over the table. Pause to clean up. No more wine for me. *sad face*
This I sweated over for ages because I bought the sapphire yarn at Big Lots and started it, then discovered Lion Brand wasn't MAKING that yarn anymore. I gradually got enough to finish it by trolling eBay auctions, and here it is (spread over the old rainbow afghan, and now packed away because it's TOO HOT):
I really do want Firefox back working properly. Chrome is all right, but all my STUFF is on Firefox.
I want my wine back. And yes, there IS sense in crying over spilled wine.
Tomorrow I'm going to buy bagels. So there.
