So, this afternoon I said about four dozen times I had to make cookies for work tomorrow. I checked ingredients at the grocery store (didn't find what I wanted--tahini--so we were going to stop at the specialty market). I reminded myself several times that I had to do that when we got home from taking Barb's mom out for her birthday dinner. (We went to Golden Buddha, where we've gone many times for Dim Sum; their regular menu is quite tasty, too. I got the VERY BAD FOR MY DIET Walnut Prawns, because a) I love it, and b) framefolly told me it's a traditional Cantonese New Year's dish, so....)

So, what did I do when I got home? Sat on the couch knitting and watching the first few episodes of The Tudors.

GAH. So I remember at 9:45 and hastily threw together some brownies which are now in the oven. GAH, again.

I did manage to do a little writing today, mostly on pointless character-study story in file entitled August 2002, but at least it's something.

Camelback Mountain, from the freeway, and if you look at his "tail," you'll see the Tovrea Mansion (featured in photos on Day 96:

That's one of my better "shot through the windshield while driving 65 MPH" pictures...

What I need to get is get some good shots for photo_scavenger prompts now; I've been trying to catch the "Taxes Done Here!" flag as I drive by for the "taxes" prompt, but it's not working. We shall see what the muse does for me.

Churro is exploring. And knocking things over, startling us (fortunately, the vase with the ornamental branches in it did not break). Cats tax me. Maybe that would be a good one... *g*

Brownies almost done. They smell nice. That should be good. And it gave me something to use that bag of "milk vanilla" chips that were in the freezer.

to me, the camel looks more like a sleeping bear. :D However, I love it.

Hobbes (back when I had cats) broke my gorgeous wolf sculpture. I'm still mad about that, and that was about 20 years ago.

I'm not sure when it got the name Camelback -- I think the Indians called it "sleeping woman" or something like that (I'd have to look it up to be sure).

I can't think that a cat has ever broken anything completely irreplaceable like that -- we've had candy dishes and holiday ornaments and vases and such broken, but the worst breaks I can think of in the house were usually caused by human hands! :D

This house is the one I've broken more plates in than anyplace I've ever lived. I swear, they leap out of my hands and crash. Nearly every plate, saucer or bowl has a chip or crack in it.

I'm not one for cut flowers, so what few vases I had in Florida stayed behind.

Walnut prawns FTW!

I think it's okay to eat anything once (or maybe twice...) a year ;)
