Mellow Monday

I had to work today. We don't get a federal holiday off until Memorial Day. Since our work largely involves the mail, that means we finished everything (I mean EVERYTHING) today. This preps us for tomorrow, at least, with a weekend + Tuesday mail day.

The rest of the trip was fun. We ate at a magnificent Sushi place in Sedona (the one I mentioned, Hiro's Sushi) on Saturday night and then had nice champagne in the room and spent what for us is a nice romantic evening -- television and computers. Watched the second half of Season One of Veronica Mars, leaving it right where I had to start it up again to watch the last few episodes the second we arrived home.

Anyway, we spent Saturday wandering around all over the place, from the Village at Oak Creek up to Red Rock State Park, from Oak Creek and Slide Rock (we didn't go into the park there, just went up to where Barb's family used to go and stopped to look around), down to Tlaquepaque. We had lunches and breakfasts in great restaurants all across central Arizona, then took the long way home from Sedona, going up over Mingus Mountain through Jerome and Prescott. Jerome was very nice (it was nifty to go there when it wasn't pouring sheets of rain) and in Prescott the main city square was filled with revelers since Valentine's Day is also Statehood Day in Arizona. We're two years shy of 100 years of statehood.

Overall I shopped, I spent a great deal of money, and we had a GREAT time.

Even if I did have to work today. I need to upload my pictures.

Some shots from Tlaquepaque:

Raven in the parking lot:

This store had some WONDERFUL pieces, Buddhas and other bodhisattva sculptures, Hindu gods and the like; lovely!

Barb looking at the flood-ravaged remains of the steps down to the creek:

I managed to get a couple of the new Valentine eggs, but my last year's Valentine girl refused to breed so I didn't get one of THOSE specials.
