I went walking out in the Badlands

It occurs to me that I have no clue exactly what time Barb's plane comes in tomorrow night since I never did get an itinerary; I just know it's around 11 or so. Mmmm. (Just in the off chance you log in and see this, let me know!)

Today sillymagpie and I went to Arizona Mills. We found the Piercing Pagoda and I now have my second piercing and she has hers re-pierced. I DID get lightheaded, but did not pass out; the cold sweat made me sit down rather suddenly on the floor and sillymagpie bought me a soda because I guess I must have also turned the usual bone-white. But I didn't pass out! I got cute little peridot flowers for my second piercers and in four to six weeks, I will be able to wear two pair at once (which, with my collection of earrings, is a marked improvement). My own weenie lightheadedness notwithstanding, if you're looking for ear piercing, and have a Piercing Pagoda anywhere around, I recommend them -- good prices, excellent piercing technique (fast and I really didn't feel it, I don't know what my body does), affiliated with Zale's, so reputable. Two thumbs up.

We then wandered into Charlotte Russe, where there was a massive sale going on, and I found that it really is not nearly as expensive there as I thought, and shoes were buy one, get a second pair for $10, so I got a few pair for really no more than I would have spent at Last Chance, and these are cute! I also found a new pair of very good exercise sneakers at Sports Authority, for much less than Famous Footwear's so-called sale. I spent a little more than I should have, but it was Third Paycheck month, and I can count these as early birthday presents to myself. *g*

We've been trying to organize tonight's usual Caturday festivities, but I really don't know what the heck's going on. Messages from tiirz say she wants to have us host because she has some work that hasn't gotten done yet, but phone calls from edgedancer say we go up there. To be honest I wouldn't mind staying here, because I LIKE to cook (and had planned on doing so, including defrosting the meat), plus I can drink wine if I don't have to drive; I don't mind going up there if that's the way things go, but really... organized, that we are not.

Also I'm rather sleepy, since I didn't sleep very well last night. I think Cuervo's sickness is getting worse; for three days running now the poo has likewise been running, and not all of it in the box. (TMI, cat-wise.) Poor baby.

I finished re-reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell; I had actually forgotten much of the ending, and it was like reading a whole new book for the last quarter of so (I seem to remember it was one of those "could not put down" the first time, and I read it in a great hurry, so that might account for it). Still, the entire work staggers me with its overall brilliance. It's the sort of writing that makes me wonder what the hell I'm doing thinking I can write. It is just SO good. So very good. *envy*

I really need to read that book. And I've had all my piercings (4 right, 3 left) done at the Piercing Pagoda, and they're excellent. I didn't know about the Zale's connection, but that helps explain why they're so good.

I found them on the web (I wanted to find someplace for piercing that wasn't the disaster area that is Claire's); I saw they were a subsidiary of Zale's, so that gave them credibility, and then checked locations, etc., and thus armed, charged forth! As I said, I'm totally wussy (I DID faint when the first holes went in, lo those many years ago -- TWICE!), so I wanted someplace that also claimed a gentle, simple process, which this really was. I have no idea why I almost went down again.

It's one of those Reading Commitments, 'cause it sure isn't a short book, but the writing is so very good, and she was brilliant at keeping it in its time and place (the language is even Georgian). I've heard some people say they didn't like it, and given that the first title character you meet is Norrell, who is mostly thoroughly dislikeable throughout the book, I understand, but it's really, really worth the read. *g*

clicked nad yay to the piercing. I had my first and second (thru the same hole, that was back in the days of gold stems and we found out the hard way I was allergic...) by Piercing Pagoda. They've been around forever and a day

That's good to know! I found them on the web -- I'd never heard of 'em before! I kept circling Claire's, and they scare me!

Happy Sunday!

You looked very pale and sweaty. I thought if you stood up you might fall over. :-)

But the piercings are cool, and the hoops are easier to sleep in than post were. I also like the way the hoops look. I did have a moment of panic when the scrubbie I use on my face caught on my left earring. I'll have to be careful with scrubbies and washcloths, I guess.

Dang the shoes at Charlotte Russe were tempting. If only I could wear high heels!

I slept fine in the new studs, so I should be good for the healing period. I'm not used to two bumping together, but there's no pain at all, no swelling, so I'm guessing they're going to heal well. I'm pleased!

I have to practice walking in less high ones for a while; my new ones are uber-heels and they'll kill me unless I build back up!
