Happy Rainy Thanksgiving!

Rain! It's raining in Phoenix! They were saying that it rains on Thanksgiving in Phoenix only once every 12 years or so.

Words: 36,389

I actually like this story. I think it may turn into something.

They're showing the Parade live this morning instead of on tape delay. I'm glad I happened to turn on the TV at only a little after 7 instead of waiting for 9. How dare they change things on me! Now apparently a lot of NFL Football follows instead of the Dog Show and Miracle On 34th Street. This is an appalling state of affairs.

I'll probably put on a DVD afterward. Or at least watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

I'm almost completely caught up on all my shows. Fortunately, everything's off next week, that'll give me time.

The bird is waiting to go in the oven, the stuffing is made, the yams are made, have to start the bread rising and will put on potatoes and peas shortly. Whoo hoo! I love this time of year. Hope it's a good day for all!

(If by any chance you're not in the US, have a nice day anyway! *g*

ETA: It's CBS that's showing the parade live. The proper tape delay (with the correct following broadcasting) is on NBC, where it belongs. No wonder things looked so different. I kept wondering where Al Roker was, then paid enough attention to hear "Here on CBS." Wha? That explains things.

It's a Festivus Thanksgiving Miracle™!!!

I just turned the oven on. I forgot to toast the loaf of flax bread last night so it could be turned into stuffing this morning. I'm behind!

Mmmmm, flax bread!

We used a loaf of wheat they gave us free for some promotion or other (it's Super Soft Bread, of the sort most people over 15 don't really like eating as bread anymore...).

Only every 12 years (or so)? Huh. Seems to me that I remember thinking it *always* rained on Thanksgiving. Guess that's a child's memory for you.

Maybe it did more when you were little. I can't remember the exact wording of the story I heard, but I pulled this from the ABC-15 website:

Valley experiences wet Thanksgiving for 1st time in 20 years
For the first time since 1988 the Valley received rain on Thanksgiving Day.

. . .

Rain on Thanksgiving day is very rare, but it can happen too.

There is only an 8 percent chance of seeing rain on that day, which boils down to once every 12 years.

The wettest Thanksgiving on record occurred in 1902 when 1.16 inches of rain fell.

And just when I sit here and tell you how rare it is to see rain, there is plenty of that moving in for THIS Thanksgiving day.

Rain very good. It's nice to have a little moisture in the air. Helps with Phoenix's crunchy air.

Anyone who wants to can read it! Not sure what forum, though; if I get myself in gear I can post it chapter-by-chapter on NaNoWhinging, but I really would like to get feedback faster...
