Rain Tomorrow, Never Rain Today

The storm was supposed to start coming in Friday, then Saturday, then Sunday, now it's Monday. Oh, well, so much for that. (It was SUPPOSED to be a good one, too. Rainy. Wet. Sigh.) I'm glad I did decide to water the lime tree and the roses.

I have pieces of two costumes possible for Halloween, have to decide which one to finish completely... Steampunk or 11th Doctor. I have good chunks of either, so it's just a matter of if I find the right pair of britches for either one. (Or skirt, I don't mind, but I don't want to spend a fortune on it.) I have a bow tie, and yes, I bought a fez. Sue me. Fezzes are cool.

I never did get back into my suits last year to do Doctor Donna. (I have, through sheer coincidence, both a brown pinstripe and a blue pinstripe -- one from Goodwill, one from Ross, and both bought when I was thin--size 8--and needed Business Casual clothes for work.) Maybe if I'm ever thin enough again. (And grow my hair back out.)

I can't bring myself to get rid of any of my size 8 clothes, because it's as much as admitting I'll never fit into them again, and I just won't do it. I won't.

I have been reluctant to talk much about the new Doctor, not because I don't like him, but because I haven't warmed up to him completely as yet. Until this last one. I enjoyed the romp in Sherwood Forest quite a lot, and enjoyed seeing 12 relax a little and remember there's more than Doom and Despair out there. It was the reason I stopped liking 10, that heavy focus on the Serious Terribleness of Living -- I like a Doctor who remembers that life is fun, too. I'm also a huge fan of Ben Miller, and seeing him join the ranks of the likes of Basil Rathbone and Alan Rickman to chew scenery as the Sheriff of Nottingham was wonderful.

It made Barb want to re-watch the Errol Flynn version, and we discovered that NetFlix doesn't have it, so had to order a copy at Amazon. (I've actually never seen it, much to my shame!) I freely admit my earliest exposure to Robin Hood had him wearing the green over his russet-red fox fur...

I will pay attention to my Fitness Pal ap, and log all my food. I will lose weight. I will get back into the gym. This time I'm serious. (I've only been out of the gym for so long THIS TIME because, once again, we've been working mega overtime. I don't like spending another hour at the gym when I've already been at work for ten-twelve hours...)

I need to find a good mouse for my old laptop. The touchpad is going wonky and it'll do things I haven't authorized whenever I try to do something else. It's driving me nuts. (I keep all my music on that laptop -- I probably should move most of it over to this one, but it's convenient there, and I've always lost SOMETHING moving between machines, so I was reluctant when I got Captain Jack here.)

I made bread today. I've been letting my dough cold-rise overnight (or longer) in the 'fridge -- I'm liking the results. It's all about technique!

My fig jam came out well. My cherry jam is... a little thick. It tastes okay, I guess, but it's more like cherry candy. Live and learn.
