Now, don't anyone get mad at us....

It is far too early in the year for it to be uncomfortable to get into the car because it's been baking in the sun for an hour. Not only are the trees in bloom, the ornamental plum trees have ALREADY DROPPED their blossoms!

ARGH. If it's going to be 90 degrees in freakin' February, what the hell is going to be like here in June?

Everyone's so down on Valentine's Day, I'll just say Barb got us tickets to see the live taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on Thursday night, which was a blast (who knew an NPR show could sell out a nearly 5,000-seat auditorium in a red state like Arizona?), and last night we had our traditional sushi Valentine's dinner, I got Barb the earrings she'd wanted on the cruise (I kept them secret this long!), and we had a nice, quiet evening watching classic Doctor Who (Dragonfire and The Happiness Patrol), Doctor Seven serials. Ace rocks.

Last week I did some experimenting. I'd discovered that it's not the RECIPE which matters in making pizza crust, but the technique. I made a simple crust recipe last Saturday and put it in bags in the fridge. On Monday I took out two of the crusts and made two pizzas, both of which were delicious; later in the week I made one into breadsticks (a little trouble with those, but that was my fault). The last crust I made into Indian pizza on Thursday evening -- which was curried lamb, onions, peas, and goat cheese, BTW -- and that was PERFECT. So letting it sit for several days appears to be the key. I also looked up some videos on SHAPING the darned things, and that helped a lot, too.

So we had a lot of pizza this week.

Today I made a stew and it's in the crock pot now. It smells good.

I guess Virginia didn't want to be the last state to legalize marriage equality this time.

Got up early this morning and went to work for a few hours, as we struggle to catch up from Atlanta being closed for three days.
