The Last All-Star Game in Yankee Stadium

I'm watching the pre-game show and I am ashamed to say I did not know that Willie Mays was still ALIVE, much less able to appear as the crown jewel of Center Fielders for the Hall of Famers that were there (also appearing were Hank Aaron and Yogi Berra, amongst many others). I can't believe that they're actually going to tear down The House That Ruth Built. I mean, I'm not a Yankees fan, but this is Baseball History. (My Mom's a big Yankees fan, though - but then, she's from New Jersey, I guess I can forgive her.) It was sort of sad that every All-Star player from the Red Sox got booed as he stepped on the field. There are two Diamondback pitchers on the All-Star team, but they're not starting - and the National League hasn't won the All-Star game since, I think they said '96.

I should be working on my Writer's Link submissions (writer's group who are critiquing "Ring of Fire" for me), but I'm catching up on LJ and reading email instead while watching the pre-game show.

I tried to steal a dragon egg (see melvh's journal), but the cave was empty. *is sad*

I can't believe they're already pushing the new season. It's like TV knows there won't be anything to watch until September.

Will Budweiser still be called "The Great American Lager" once the merger has gone through? (I can just feel Dad spinning in his grave at the thought of Budweiser being owned by a German company.)

Ah, well. Back to work! I have writing to critique.

I wanted to steal an egg but the site wouldn't let me register. It told me every user name I came up with was already in use, even when that was patently impossible. Grrrr.

How strange! I had no trouble at all with "Wildrider." (And I've had to tack "51" on that, even, sometimes.)

Maybe there was some weird glitch...

Maybe. I went back later and it worked. And then it took forever and I had to keep refreshing, but I got some eggs. I don't understand the process of hatching at all, though, so I hope I don't kill them.

Same here!
*crossed fingers*

I like the icon. hee!

I had to go back and see what icon I used. *sigh*

Oh, I always do the same thing. I just had to salute (from a fellow Costco shopper). *g*

I don't actually belong to Costco, but it's such a great icon that I had to nab it.

yeah I've noticed that they're advertising everything for labor day like it's right around the corner.

getting anything done for Link has been killing me.

It's all tinged with a vague, "please watch us or television as you know it will DIE!" sort of edge...

Yeah. I'm almost done, though. At least my book is finished, I'm just sending chapters for polish.

my chapter blows. No really.

I'm sending two things since they're shortish.

one my chapter stinks from Killian's story and something new I just want to see if people find interesting enought ot make me continue
Jul. 16th, 2008 03:45 am (UTC)
Mine's short and not as pivotal as the last one, but it moves things along (I hope).

Jul. 16th, 2008 04:39 am (UTC)
oh good

Killian's was short too. I'm just not happy with it

I'll be interested to see if anyone reads the new thing (optionally you can ignore it since well I AM being greedy here)
Jul. 16th, 2008 05:18 am (UTC)
I'm sure I'll read it! *g*
Jul. 16th, 2008 02:14 pm (UTC)
well yay. that makes up for this morning's migraine
Jul. 16th, 2008 05:43 am (UTC)
Write! Write!
Jul. 16th, 2008 01:25 pm (UTC)
I got it done. The group's up to Chapter 9. Good critiques on eight, too. Fresh eyes see things I haven't for a while.
