More of my boring life, in Technicolor

Sunday was a good day. We tend to call it "our couples day," which tends to boil down to lounging around with the cats for a while in the morning, maybe have a "real breakfast," if either of us feels like cooking it - the bacon & waffles sort, depending on how energetic we're feeling - and then maybe a little shopping, either for ourselves or for Barb's mom, maybe stop for a soda and generally just be together for several hours. Sometimes we watch stuff. Then make a nice dinner (which we really enjoy eating in our dining room). This particular Sunday we did shop a little, getting some hardware to finally hang the stained glass window in the slot the contractors left for it (Barb's aunt made this stained glass window for us, and it's quite nice), but we haven't had the chance to hang it yet because of Barb's overtime, and we trolled around Tuesday Morning for a while but found nothing we needed to go into debt over (although we thought about a very nice wooden filing cabinet). That's the sum of that.

The surgery went really well - my foot's a little swollen and bruised from the procedure, but it's healing rather rapidly. I'm glad I had the screw taken out, I can tell already the pain's going to be gone when this is all healed up.

Getting some work done on writing for my online writer's group (not so much new writing but rather critiques and commentary on others), have NOT been studying at all, and the next test is only two weeks away. Argh. My boss at least says I CAN re-schedule for the next session, which I may do, depending on how I do on the "practice exams." This section at least deals with the stuff I really feel like I know already, just from having worked at the Company for ten years. Speaking of which, my ten-year anniversary is coming up - my ten-year gift is a five-speaker RCA home entertainment sound system, although I can't seem to get sound out of the back speakers. I'm supposed to also get an in-office party with food, but since my old supervisor is between assignments and the new one isn't here yet, that's sort of in the air (along with the ten-year anniversary of our other lead worker, who started about the same time I did).

I am going to miss my old supervisor. He's been one of the best bosses ever. Once again I have been recommended for another position, however; one that hasn't been posted yet, because the guy who's in it currently recently got a promotion - and he's said a few times that I would be good in his place. My current boss told me today he recommended me for the position, and he'll set up some cross-training to see if I'd like it. So we'll see.

I have finally dropped below the plateau, and have lost 9 pounds. Keep your fingers crossed.

sounds like everything is going good for you. Here's to surgery's healing well, promotions at work, weight loss and tests that aren't too hard

and yeah need to get off my duff with the writers group. I looked at my critiques and its like gah, useless.

There's some good chapters this time. I have to get on the stick with the LJ community, too.

I'll see if I can finish something this weekend. My first chapter of the new book is something I've posted before, but took a lot of the commentary to heart for this re-write.
