Time!

It does fly past! I just spent most of "Rudolph" discovering I haven't read my friends list since sometime Saturday afternoon -- and you guys have been chatty!

My mother called and said that she'd get us a new dining room set, or at least foot us up to a certain amount for one if we found one we liked; so for the last few days we've been out at the furniture stores searching for the set that turned both of us on; tonight we found it at the Room Store, and have just purchased a lovely round oak Broyhill table, with a leaf to expand it if necessary, and an under-table cabinet, with six chairs. It cost more than Mom is willing to spend, but we figured we could handle the extra.

I talked to my doctor today, and he said that the reason my foot still hurts is because my small bones are not taking kindly to the screws, and he would like to take them out. So, hopefully insurance will cover it all, and I'll have the screws removed in January sometime. And I also hope that it being in January does not mean my insurance has re-set and I have that $1000 deductible to cover again... (in which case, I may have to live with screws until I have money again.)

My Christmas icons are locked onto my desktop computer (still haven't handled that), so I feel very left out when I see everyone else's cheery holiday icons. So Homer in the Land of Chocolate will have to do.

I have to review the Eagles by the weekend and also get my Writers Link critiques done. I'm SO far behind on everything -- and I realized today that part of that is because I actually enjoy hanging out in my living room so much I don't spend as much time in here on my computer as I used to do. There's also still stuff to do; we've been hanging pictures and such; it's just about reached the "we're happy with it" done stage. When the new table and chairs arrive may be that point.

Oh, for photos of the work-in-progress, to just after we got the new sofa, go to rahirah's journal for her link to the pics.

Hurray for the table! Though not for the foot. Screws? Eeee. And I bet the insurance will reset in January, so maybe you should ask your doctor if he can slide you in before the end of the year somehow.

Well, he's going on vacation, which is why he suggested January (doctor, you know)...

We shall see. It's at least not an invasive surgery; local anesthesia and a couple of quick incisions, then just a couple of stitches and bandages, nothing like the first one.

I just love that lemur icon. It's very happy-making.

The usual. As soon as we get time, we'll get the new desktops up and going (they're refurbished used ones, but better than what I had).

HA! Opps. I wasn't talking computers actually.

hardware is what surgeons call the screws, plates and pins we shove into people

Duh. The doc even said that, "problems with hardware." Hee.

He told me I have small bones, and that pressure from the screws could cause stress fractures (although I mentioned that the previous operation didn't have that problem -- the screws are still IN there).

screws are techy things. Sometimes they work, sometimes they become a pain in the ass. Gah, i used to HATE having to dig out hardware.

Or a pain in the foot, as the case may be.

It sounded like he was just going to open me up and use a screwdriver, like I was a cabinet. *g*

well...he IS. the probably is sometimes the buggers migrate or they get tissue growing around them and then they're a royal pain the remove. And of course you'll be off your foot again until the hole in the bone seals.

Well, we have you to thank for the entryway/dining area! **hugs and smootches**

Thanks. I hope so, too. The doc says it'll just be a couple stitches and bandaids, so nothing too horrible. I think I'll like getting the screws out, though; it's been really painful the last couple of days.

Yes, they are! But I'll be so happy when it's done; the real serious pain of bunion is gone, at least! :-)

Say, when you guys get settled, see if you can find your Christmas stockings, that I mailed to you back a few years -- I was digging out some of the Christmas stuff and realized we don't have stockings for you!

Bleargh! Sorry to hear that you will need further surgery on your foot. I hope that they can fix the problem this time.

Nah, it's just a hardware problem (see convo with cornerofmadness below...)
