Happy Thanksgiving!

No writing done today.

Living Room is painted. Waiting for everything to dry, then will pull tape and do touchups, then furniture will go into place.

Dinner was lovely, first major meal cooked in New Kitchen. Turkey, brined, was perfect (really, honest, perfect; I can't remember one I've done better); stuffing excellent, gravy very good albeit somewhat greasy from the excellent bird (this will be taken care of with leftovers, when skimming off cold grease will be easy before re-heating), baked sweet potatoes with butter and peas w/onions. Nothing too fancy. Did not have to bake a pie since the neighbors dropped by with one, lovely! We had a few nice little Bailey's Irish Cream puffs from CostCo (wonderful!), and that was the day. Probably a good thing it was just Barb & me, gave us a day to just do stuff around the house. Sat in our new dining room to enjoy our repast and even shared some wine (for those who know Barb, that's something). Some pictures were taken, and hopefully Barb will get a website of the Remodel of Awesome up in the near future for all and sundry to admire. (There has been much squeeing.)

Had to only make one emergency run to the store; fortunately Walgreens was open, for they sold BOTH the blue edging tape we needed as well as the dishwasher detergent we also needed.

Speaking of which, I am not too proud to admit I was wrong. I love my dishwasher. I embrace its sinister attraction. Dishes put in (without ANY pre-rinse) come out nice and hot and clean (and mostly dry, unless they have places water can settle, like curled lips or indented bottoms). This includes the entire Thanksgiving meal except the roasting pan, which didn't fit. And it was far from a top-of-the-line model, too.

I found I'm rather glad I bought these scrubs for Halloween - they make for great knock-around-the-house/painting pants. I may have to pick up another pair the next time I'm in Goodwill.

Santa has ridden by at Macy's, and NOW the holiday season can officially begin. Commence hooplah. All my Christmas icons are on my other computer.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night.

Happy Thanksgiving (the day after), esp. with your new kitchen!

Dishwashers are da bomb! And I think I probably save both water and electricity by just filling mine up over a period of days (and days and days) and then letting it wash everything all at once.

Hurray for happy days at home and the commencement of the shopping holiday season.

I am loving it. Even taking out super-hot dishes as soon as they're done and marveling at their cleanliness. Woot!!!

I'm so glad you had a great holiday, and that the kitchen was ready in time for it!

I love my dishwasher. I embrace its sinister attraction.

Our biggest roasting pan didn't fit in our old one, but it does fit in the new one (it's in there right now, actually). Michael's biggest mixing bowl doesn't fit, still. And while it fits, he gets cranky if he catches me putting his wok in (the wok lid he doesn't mind, the wok itself...)

The roasting pan COULD have fit, if the big mixing bowl wasn't in there already, along with the turkey platter - those took up a large amount of the space; and the cookie sheets have to lay flat on the top. It's not top of the line, but it's really nice; and boy, does it CLEAN! The only thing that came out still dirty was the jar I'd kept the neck and giblets w/broth in overnight (since I cooked them when I put the turkey in the brine, they were done early).

We don't put in cast iron (which cannot be cleaned with soap at all) and I'm not comfortably putting my good wooden implements in, but everything else...! *g*
