Ah, Monday. Friday the 13th has nothing on Monday the 13th.

I had a scheduled EKG this morning, and decided I'd go ahead and get the blood draw taken care of, as well; especially since the EKG wasn't until 9:45 and the lab opened at 7:30, giving me time to recover, if needed, between. So I went in for the blood work and got the World's Best Blood Tech, who laid me down and chatted amiably and suddenly - we were done. No trauma, no fainting, not even a little lightheadedness. I was done quick and ready to even get a chance to stop at home before my next appointment.

Except the truck wouldn't start. It went "blah" and died. Ah, the heat of Arizona's summers, even at 8:30 in the morning, has taken out another battery. Thank goodness for the owning of cell phones and rahirah is off. I called home and my lovely SO arrived shortly to haul me to my next appointment and thence to work. I left the truck at the medical center with a note begging them not to tow it, I'd be back.

Work = busy. That's all there is anymore. Just busy.

Said lovely S.O. bought the battery for the truck while I was at work, so when she picked me up we went, changed it out, and all was well.

Now I eat cake and milk.

Your Score: Vampira!

Well done!

Beautiful, creepy, and bloodthirsty, your Proto-Goth Icon is Vampira, the world's first TV horror host! Vampira was played by Maila Nurmi, the Finnish performer beneath the famous black wig and nails. Her iconic gothic style, sardonic wit and eye-popping hourglass figure made her the macabre fantasy of guys and ghouls across the globe, despite appearing on a show that was only broadcast in the Los Angeles area. Every week the voluptuous vamp would emerge from dry-ice studio fog to the sound of creepy organ music. She would unleash a bloodcurdling scream and utter puns in an exotic, sexual, Marlene Dietrich-like drawl - "I am... Vampira! I hope you all had the good fortune to have had a terrible week!"

Hot, hot days! I can't remember how long I had that battery (I neglected to punch the numbers out when I got it, d'oh), but they only last a couple years in Phoenix.

that sucks. it's broken 100 here too which is outrageous for here.

btw I ended up as Morticia Addams
Aug. 14th, 2007 04:26 am (UTC)
Heck, I would have liked Mortisha. Oh, well.

Aug. 14th, 2007 05:11 am (UTC)
i'm pleased with it
Aug. 14th, 2007 04:16 am (UTC)
Heat can kill a battery? I didn't know! We're supposed to have a break from the humidity tomorrow. Actually, it's already (supposedly) started. And hurray! for doing the blood thing and not fainting. I need to go back to the Red Cross and donate, but I'm a bit hesitant after last time.
Aug. 14th, 2007 04:28 am (UTC)
Yes, indeed. Sears specifically makes a "Heat-Beater" battery they sell down here (although we usually buy at CostCo, 'cause it's cheaper, or basically whatever store's closest when they go!).

It can happen to ordinary batteries, too. I keep them in the fridge if they're not in use.

It's the fainting problem that keeps me from doing that important civic duty. I'm such a wuss!

Aug. 14th, 2007 04:33 am (UTC)
You're not a wuss! Fainting sucks. I was totally freaked out by it.
Aug. 14th, 2007 04:38 am (UTC)
And it's been happening to me since the third grade. I'll always remember waking up being carried into the nurse's office by the principal...

Say, speaking of your pictures (as we were on the other electron), do you mind if I make (well, obviously I already made it, but USE) this icon? *g* (I have credited, of course.)

Aug. 14th, 2007 04:41 am (UTC)
Mind? I'm flattered! ::blushes::
Aug. 14th, 2007 05:05 am (UTC)
You takes pretty pictures!
Aug. 14th, 2007 05:10 am (UTC)
It's all the camera. Really.

Adorable icon, btw.
Aug. 14th, 2007 11:37 am (UTC)
That one I snatched from the Siegfried & Roy website (along with this white lion). I need to make a few from my own pictures.

Aug. 14th, 2007 10:25 am (UTC)
Alack for bloodwork and battery problems! [hugs]
Aug. 14th, 2007 11:39 am (UTC)
And tonight (I guess it's last night, although it doesn't feel like there's been much of a difference) a storm blew through, keeping the animals on High Alert. The power snapped off at least once and sleep will have to be for others, not I. Yes, indeed, it doesn't rain but it pours! (A pun, even!) *g*

Aug. 15th, 2007 05:25 am (UTC)
Yay for it all being good again! We get our our battery from...Autozone, I think? It's got a warrenty, so every couple of years when it dies, we just pay a small amount for a new one.
Aug. 15th, 2007 01:04 pm (UTC)
This one probably had come from Checker, just 'cause it's close to home, but I can't remember for sure. We have two cars, so I'm blurring battery purchases between 'em. *g*

Sorry you had such a sucky Monday. Did the doctor explain why they needed an EKG so far in advance of the surgery? Hurray for not fainting!

I scored as Morticia on the quiz, but that's no big surprise...
Aug. 15th, 2007 01:03 pm (UTC)
It's only two weeks, and I'm over 40 now. cornerofmadness used to be a foot surgeon and assured me it's pretty standard practice.

Geez, everyone got Morticia but me. I don't know what I'm lacking...
