Chapter 24: In Which I Shift My Butt

Today I made a very rich and sticky chocolate-coconut cake for sillymagpie's birthday. It was an experiment which worked, I'm pleased to say, although I was a little lazy and a) doctored a cake mix for it, and b) used jarred frosting. However, as for b), it's a jar of really GOOD frosting from Trader Joe's, and if you have a Trader Joe's in the area, I can wholeheartedly recommend their jar of "Decadent Chocolate Frosting," which makes those plastic tubs from Pillsbury taste kinda like runny silly putty.

I doctored a Triple Chocolate Cake mix from Betty Crocker with a stick of melted butter, about 1/3 cup extra vegetable oil, and used coconut cream in place of water, then stirred in about a cup of shredded, unsweetened coconut and some chocolate chips. Then when the cake was cooled and removed from the pans, I poured extra coconut cream onto the underside of the cake for further moistening before it was frosted (this is an idea I got off the Food Network). Once frosted, I coated the exterior with toasted coconut.

For dinner we had London Broil and curried cous cous mixed with peas.

Tomorrow we're taking her out to dinner. I like adult birthdays. They can last for WEEKS if they're timed right. *g*

I realized that my plane leaves at 8 am Sunday morning, so that means I have to be at the airport probably by 6. *yawn* That was silly of me. But of course, I wanted to be there BEFORE Mom's plane, because I know what happened when she got there first.

This has been a good couple of days off, I have to say. We haven't been able to do a whole lot, but it's been nice just hanging around the house and getting some stuff done.

Is it wrong to want the TARDIS mobile phone ringer even though I don't have a mobile phone?
