In which I am tired

I could have sworn I lay awake most of the night last night, but it occurred to me I never once heard the clock chime, so therefore I was at least sleeping over the top of the hours (not to mention the bottom, since it also goes "PING!" at the half-hour). Cairo has developed the habit of licking my fingers if they happen to be outside of the covers until I'm awake and can pet him.

Therefore, I'm sleepy, especially since a good part of the day was thumb-twiddling due to a slow mail day. We spent some of the time cleaning the office, since an audit team is coming from Corporate this month and we want to present very spiffy.

I have two reviews due this week, and apparently the interviews are getting NO hits, so I don't have to transcribe any more. The two CDs? Kris Kristofferson is releasing a disc of all-new material called This Old Road, which is a staggeringly brilliant work (as one would expect from Kristofferson), thoughtful and political all at once. The other is basically the "soundtrack" of the DVD Heartworn Highways, featuring Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, etc., etc. Excellent stuff all around.

Some of Kristofferson's lyrics from the song In The News:

Burning up the atmosphere and cutting down the trees
The billion dollar bombing of a nation on its knees
Anyone not marching to their tune they call it treason
Everyone says God is on his side

See the lightning, hear the cries
Of the wounded in a world in Holy war
Mortal thunder from the skies
Killing everything they say they're fighting for.

Speaking of good music, I highly recommend a big teddy bear of an Americana singer by the name of Matt Angus, who hails from, of all places, New Jersey (some talented fellows from that neck of the woods). He's a funny guy, as well as a pretty talented dude. His song President's Son is fantastic (sadly, it's not on his solo disc, but it IS on an older one put out by his old group, Matt Angus Thing). Anyway, he opened for Dave at the Yucca Tap Room on Friday, and I really enjoyed his stuff. His solo disc is very good.

I think I managed to get the color on this monitor the way I like it, but it still looks a little washed out to me in some places, especially with fleshtones and such things.

I thought I had more to say, but apparently not.

I had a meme, but I lost it, and didn't get the same result when I did it again... (the "what's your theme song" meme I got in doll_paparazzi's journal) The first time I got "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, which I could deal with, but the EXACT SAME ANSWERS got me "Loser" by Beck the second time.

Good eppy of Boston Legal last night.
