I figure I'm gonna have to actually go and see the upcoming new Halloween 2 movie, despite all; I know the fellow who's doing the soundtrack (as "Captain Clegg & the Night Creatures") personally.

(His real name is Jesse Dayton, and he's probably one of the best guitar players alive, as well as a great lyricist and singer. A little crazy, but a good guy.)
I feel tired and cranky. I DID finally work out this morning, woot. And then blew it all by eating a donut (someone brought donuts in, the evol). I knew I shouldn't have -- and apparently sugar DOES do weird things to one, because I've been starving all day, which I haven't been sticking more or less strictly to proteins and whole grains. Well, I'll be better tomorrow, although I'll be out honky-tonking again so I know I'll have a few drinks tomorrow.
I walked out of the room, it was 1-1 (D-backs v. Giants), when I came back it was 5-1 San Francisco. WHA...??? At least it's only the bottom of the 3rd, I guess there's still some chance. We're apparently 12-20 at home this season. Yikes. Don't these players understand that Phoenix is not as forgiving as Chicago?
They had a special video tribute to Randy Johnson's career (he's reached 300 wins as a pitcher, and the first to have defeated all 30 MLB teams) -- he's playing for SF now, but he pitched his perfect game as a Diamondback. *sigh* I wish they hadn't broken up the old team.
I can't get a stripey dragon egg. Grump. (Yes, I know, I need more dragons like a hole in my head...)

Warmed up leftover stir fry for lunch to find that there is no meat left in it (it was pork). Dang. Vegetarians we are not. I'll have to cook up some chicken to throw into it, because there's a lot of baby corn, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts here.
Trader Joe's makes the OMG best potato chips (the "Ridge Cut" salt & pepper flavor) in the universe. I must stop eating these NOW.
The Diamondbacks are winning again. Seems we've recovered from the early season slump. Maybe firing coaches does do something. When did the Padres start wearing camo uniforms? So after a 6-0 lead for most of the game, apparently the 'Backs plan on letting the Padres start scoring like maniacs at the bottom of the 9th??? What is with my team?
I have to go bring in the laundry and then I'm going to make blueberry cobbler, I think with a nice crunchy strudel top because I like those.
Cobbler (crisp) is in the oven, bread is out of the machine and cooling, laundry in and folded, sheets out on the line, the only thing left to do is make the bed.
*whew*
Television side note: I can't believe the direction Primeval is going...!!!

I'm watching the pre-game show and I am ashamed to say I did not know that Willie Mays was still ALIVE, much less able to appear as the crown jewel of Center Fielders for the Hall of Famers that were there (also appearing were Hank Aaron and Yogi Berra, amongst many others). I can't believe that they're actually going to tear down The House That Ruth Built. I mean, I'm not a Yankees fan, but this is Baseball History. (My Mom's a big Yankees fan, though - but then, she's from New Jersey, I guess I can forgive her.) It was sort of sad that every All-Star player from the Red Sox got booed as he stepped on the field. There are two Diamondback pitchers on the All-Star team, but they're not starting - and the National League hasn't won the All-Star game since, I think they said '96.
I should be working on my Writer's Link submissions (writer's group who are critiquing "Ring of Fire" for me), but I'm catching up on LJ and reading email instead while watching the pre-game show.
I tried to steal a dragon egg (see
melvh's journal), but the cave was empty. *is sad*
I can't believe they're already pushing the new season. It's like TV knows there won't be anything to watch until September.
Will Budweiser still be called "The Great American Lager" once the merger has gone through? (I can just feel Dad spinning in his grave at the thought of Budweiser being owned by a German company.)
Ah, well. Back to work! I have writing to critique.

It says I did it in 2m 58s; I don't know why it doesn't show (unless it's just my layout). I'm pleased and surprised; I thought I was going slowly, especially when I couldn't remember how to spell Connecticut. I think it's easier with the map laid out there in front of one, though.
Last night I got to see my first Diamondbacks game live, at Chase Field. It was cool. It was fun. And it was, apparently, history-making, as for the first time in the history of our young team, the fans got mad enough to throw things on the field after a REALLY CRAPPY call by the umpire staff in the bottom of the 7th. I was sitting in the row furthest away from EVERYTHING, at the top of the world (eagles nest up there), and I could see it wasn't two outs. Anyway, it pissed a lot of people off and the game stopped cold for some five minutes. We lost. I still had fun.
We're losing again tonight. I'm glad this is a best of seven series. At least we still stand a slim chance of making the World Series again.
Best still, they let us wear jeans the last two days and show our team colors, since our Region consists of Arizona and Colorado (for those who don't follow baseball, the National League Championship is down to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies - the winner of this best of seven will face the winner of the American League playoffs in the World Series). Now, for the most part, I'm not a big sports person, but I have always liked baseball, and have followed the Dbacks since the team was first started here, back in 1998. (And remember explaining to someone not from the southwest that a "Diamondback" was a rattlesnake, not a deck of cards - he thought it was a horrible name for a team...)
The room is beginning to look like a ROOM - most of the drywall is up and they said this weekend is patching and texturing on the walls. I hope they take us appliance shopping soon, now that I can see where things are going to go. I am suffering unparalleled joy at having a coat closet in the front of the house.

I see that Nexus is available in collected volumes. This was one of my favorite comics through the 80's, basically as long as Steve Rude was drawing it, and I have most of the early part of the series and some of the later ones, as well. I would LOVE to get the collections (there are apparently seven out), and sell off the old comics (mostly because of space considerations - I was never a collector, I just bought the ones I liked).
Once we have the dining room table in a dining room and out of the living room, I'll be able to get to the cupboards under the living room shelves, and can finally get rid of all the old Babylon 5 tapes, since I have it on DVD now. I think I kept it around mostly because they were recorded in the original full-screen format (I don't know why they thought chopping off the top and bottom of a TV show makes it work at the widescreen ratio - it just cuts off the hair and chin of the actors in closeups - just like old Panavision movies chopped to TV changed the credits... -- "RUE GRI" with "OHN WAYN").
God, I lead an exciting life. Speaking of which, I'd better clean the catbox before going to bed...
